These daily habits = energy, healthy hormones and a happier you!
Food noise and exercise noise and all the things you see and read online can be so confusing and overwhelming, sometimes you don't know where to start!
If you are in a bit of a slump and feel like you need a boost, take a look at your habits and see what you can tweak to start to make a difference in your energy, your mood, your sleep, how your clothes fit and watch yourself start to thrive and feel alive again!
When you start eating incredibly well-balanced meals, prioritising whole foods, enough protein, a wide variety of vegetables and fruits, nourishing fats, making sure you are MOVING daily and ensuring you are lifting weights every week, your hormones will balance out and you will feel so-much-better! Trust me you will, I promise.
Here are some ideas to implement for those of you who particularly love to run on coffee all morning, skip breakfast, skip workouts & are feeling stressed!
Eat breakfast – will change your energy, your mood and your metabolism.
Waking up and having coffee is not the way to go! Eat breakfast if possible, start with a smoothie if that’s all you can muster, it’s fine!
When your body is stressed, your body thinks you’re in danger. It is trying to help you survive, so it needs glucose to burn, it’s not going to access body fat. We need to be more relaxed for that. Prioritise SLEEP and STRESS first before you go jumping into some radical plan.
We want to make sure that cortisol doesn’t go too high so hence we will start by having breakfast BEFORE your coffee.
A smoothie that has protein, carbs and healthy fats in it, not just a smoothie full of sugar and no protein or good fats – with a smoothie, you can jam pack it full of nutrition and it’s easy to sip on if eating a big breakfast is not your thing.
A bit more on the coffee debate...
Caffeine – if this is the first thing you have in the morning. It is a stimulant; it increases your brain activity but it also increases cortisol. So if you have anxiety or stress, then this is just going to make things worse. It will set you up for more nervousness or overwhelm
It doesn’t actually gives you energy, it just masks fatigue. Too much caffeine will mask fatigue, so it pushes us further into fatigue and keep our stress hormones elevated. If we can bring them down we will feel a lot better.
So just avoid it on an empty stomach, don’t have too many during the day & the ones loaded with lots of milk.
In saying that, some people live on coffee it seems and don't eat breakfast, down coffees all morning and may feel fine. At the end of the day people are going to do what they believe is ok and what they enjoy doing and that's cool by me. This is just more for people who may have high stress levels, feel anxious, have gut issues, hormonal issues etc etc
The habits that have brought you to this place where you are now may or may not be serving you, so perhaps have a look at your habit, if they are all fabulous and you feel good, great! Keep doing you, if not, perhaps it's time to set up new habits.
